Around 4,000 packets of Sunflower seeds were given to school children earlier in the year with weekly tips on the best way to grow them held on Sunshine Radio every week.

Youngsters were then encouraged to bring their flowers into town for a ‘measuring’ with Luke winning the boys section with his 381cm tall flower and Jade winning the girls section with a bloom of 370cm. An extra award was given to Leonardo Bento for the effort he put into growing his 353cm flower.
